What a great website; what a great tribute to Kurt and his music. I loved seeing the photos. I think about you and Ryan often and hope you are doing well. I admire your strength. Kurt was a wonderful young man. We are glad that we knew him and got to hear his music. We know how much he loved it and his family.

I was a fraternity brother of Kurt's at Butler University. I just received the "Dark Side of Brightness" yesterday and it is awesome. Many of the musicians listed who inspired Kurt are the same ones that influence my music.
I wrote this poem which I meant to read at my monthly poetry group last night but didn't for some reason:
The Beat Goes On
[tap heartbeat rhythm]
the sun rises and sets
the moon waxes and wanes
the tides rise and fall
and the beat goes on
the rivers flow to the sea
the seasons change
the birds fly south and then return
and the beat goes on
through days, weeks, and months
the years come and pass
time marches forth
and the beat goes on
I am man
mighty man
marvelous man
magnificent man
mortal man
and like every generation before me
like every man before me
someday my beat will STOP
[stop heartbeat rhythm]
and only then might the great unknown become known
whether it be
eternal bliss
fire and brimstone
reincarnation
an absence of suffering
becoming one with the universe
or simply fading into nothingness
[resume heartbeat rhythm]
but until that day comes
my light will shine
my words will flow
my voice will sing
and my beat... goes on
Through this CD (and many other ways I'm sure) Kurt's beat goes on. It may just be the inspiration I need to take my music to a new level.
